The device has been independently tested in a number of situations on a number of older cars in addition to 'real world' tests by satisfied customers.

The most comprehensive independent analysis on older cars is the 1995 DTI Warren Springs test conducted in real on the road conditions. It should be noted that Warren Springs has since been taken over by the privatised AEA Technologies Plc. The Warren Springs tests (details below) show a conclusive reduction in emissions and fuel consumption (F/C) as does the more recent Evans Halshaw data on cars with early electronic engine and fuel management systems. 

The tests conducted by REVS magazine show improved performance and acceleration and, most significantly, a 64% reduction in Carbon Monoxide (CO) and a 13% reduction in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) under MoT test conditions. Full article here.

Car Mechanics Magazine did a full three page in depth test where they found: "At the 2,000 rpm mark, arguably the more reliable readings, there was a staggering 78.6 per cent average improvement in CO emissions, a 15.5 per cent reduction in C02 and a 35.9 per cent improvement in HC emissions." And they said: "In short, the Ecotek CB-26P significantly reduced the emissions on our car, no doubt about it - early indications also show that it has improved fuel consumption." Full article here.

The test drives consisted of a congested traffic route within the local town of Hitchin with a 30 mph speed limit, and several sets of traffic lights and six roundabouts to negotiate. The average speed of these drives is in the region of 20 kph. and includes several periods at idle.

The gaseous emissions were sampled into Tedlar bags using the Warren Spring on-board mini-CVS system and the contents analysed on return to the Laboratory. Four drives were completed at each visit in addition to two baseline tests.

 

EVANS HALSHAW FUEL CONSUMPTION TEST RESULTS

1. Test Equipment: Flowtironic 205 Impulse Recorder. Test date : 26-05-98

Test Sequence: (Constant Speed Test). Tests carried out over a flat distance of 1 mile at constant speeds of 50 / 70 mph in top gear, 2 readings recorded at each speed for average result calculation, with and without the CB-26P operating, test distance measured by speedometer trip recorder.

Test Vehicle : Vauxhall Cavalier with Bosch Multec management system. Manufacturers specification set and recorded to Bosch VMT 501 diagnostic equipment.

These fuel consumption tests were observed and recorded on behalf of Evans Halshaw, Horsham, Sussex, by Kevin Cooper, Tech Eng. (CEI), A.M.I.M.I Car Service Manager.

Urban Cycle – before 37.5; after 40.5 mpg. Up 8%

Motorway – before 39.5; after 45.5 mpg. Up 15.2%

Here are the before and after emission tests conducted at Ricky Road MOT Centre in Watford. (VIEA No. 6518A2), they showed a 100% reduction in CO, a 38% reduction in Hydrocarbons and an improved Lambda from 1.006 to 1.002.

The 100% reduction means that the new readings were so small as to be unreadable, given that this car has EFi and a catalytic converter it is very significant to see these reductions in conjunction with an improved Lambda. A B Martins Engineering recently tested a prototype fitting plate with the CB-26P as follows: "The CB-26P valve which you initially sent is now fitted together with our prototype adapter plate for evaluation to a standard 1981, 998cc, Mini City with 40,000 genuine miles, here are our findings:

With basic stopwatch timed runs and with the CB-26P valve fitted the above results indicate there is an acceleration/performance advantage in having the device fitted.

We have also conducted some basic fuel economy tests using the same vehicle, the tests were general day to day driving, no motorways, the results are as follows:-

CAR WITHOUT CB26-P VALVE

The vehicle travelled 170 miles using 5.04 gallons of fuel, this equals:- 33.7mpg

CAR FITTED WITH CB26-P VALVE

The vehicle travelled 197 miles using 5.08 gallons of fuel, this equals:- 38.8mpg

These basic tests have shown that with the CB26-P valve fitted the vehicle achieved 5.1 mpg more. Further details can be seen here: Mini & Friends
