Keith Lee runs the largest web site of its type devoted to tuning and running all types of VW Polo's and he visited our site and went through some of the VW magazines and his own records and said: "it seemed that very few people had bad comments to make about the device - indeed most reviews were very positive!"

So he bought himself a CB-26P and he says: "I noticed a real increase in torque from about 2500 revs, as opposed to the previous 'kick-in' figure of about 3200, which means town driving is less 'gear-intensive' and I would say the power delivery is now smoother throughout the rev range (well, up to my limit of 5500!).

polo_1.JPG (37455 bytes)As far as fuel consumption goes, again, the difference is noticeable. I've seen a reduction of about 15% under mixed driving and over 20% on motorways (sitting at 70mph) - and that's notwithstanding the fact that, with increased performance, it's often just TOO tempting to put your foot down......." Here is a picture of the device fitted to his Polo GT (3F engine) For VW enthusiasts there is more info on our VW GTi's page - click here to visit.

BMWEcotektuned_2.JPG (47050 bytes)This Beamer was fitted with a CB-26P and filter a specialist in Belgium - (he's got a Merc 350SL which has an Ecotek and also runs on LPG). This is a customers BMW 325i - you can see the Pipercross Filter over the CB-26P on the right rear of the engine (not to be confused with the induction kit). Apparently the CB-26P gives this BMW a smoother drive, better throttle response and saves 10% - 15% on petrol, as well as cleaner emissions.

There is a special page on BMW M3's on the site - click here to visit. The effects of the device on more highly tuned cars tends to be limited to improving petrol consumption but many customers use their sports cars for commuting as well (see also the Subaru page) and as you can see from the gas test results on the M3 page the device certainly improves combustion. If you've got an interesting car fitted with the Ecotek please let us know.

Mark Dow, who is Chairman of the Peugeot GTi Autosport Club, mailed us recently:

"Its 15th February 2001 and I have just had an Ecotek CB-26P with optional Pipercross Breather Filter in anodised blue fitted to my 1999 306 GTi-6 by Star Performance, in Glenrothes Fife www.starperformance.co.uk

306_tuning_ecotek3_2.jpg (24921 bytes)These guys have state of the art rolling road facilities are very friendly, helpful and most importantly know their stuff.  Fitted in 15 minutes (including adjustment/tuning) and with the benefit of  25 mile drive home I can feel a definite improved throttle response.

It is far too early to comment on fuelling and a BHP. Thankfully I cannot hear the burping noise it can make due to the breather so I am happy with my investment.

The unit fitted is around £60.00 with the addition of £20.00 for the Pipercross. This part is not essential to the operation of your Ecotek but I think it looks great as well. Mark Dow"

Here are some pictures if his set up - visit the Peugeot site for 306_tuning_ecotek1.jpg (24867 bytes)more info by clicking on their logo above or here: www.peugeot-gti.co.uk There has been quite a lot of positive feedback from Peugeot owners - Chris Johnson fitted the CB-26P to his Peugeot 306 GTI-6 98 R reg and emailed us:

"Just Fitted the Ecotek valve with filter to my 306 GTI-6 and I cannot believe this is the same car. I was expecting results but this far out weighs my expectations. The car feels to pull a lot smoother and on motorway driving I don't have to have my foot on the throttle as hard as before. The throttle response is now instant as before there was a slight flat spot. This thing really does work and surely is a must for any car. I just wish I had bought one earlier."

306xs.jpg (41654 bytes)In June 2001 CruiseSouth did a test on their Peugeot 306XS picture left - the full review and fitting details can be seen on their site: www.cruise-south.co.uk and go to 'Modify It' and then 'Mods'. They give full fitting and test information (they have done a very thorough job) and their conclusions are:

"Immediately a difference was noticeable. The car seemed to rev more evenly and pull without the usual flat spots and lumpiness that we had grown used to. It also seemed to be making less effort to reach speeds, with the revs at high speed lower than they were prior to the fitting of the CB-26P. The performance definitely seemed to have been improved as Ecotek claimed it would be".

The older 205 and 309's benefit too - the effects on the old GTi's are so pronounced that both Revs and Fast Car magazines did reviews just on the benefits for 205 GTi's - click here for the articles 205 GTi Reviews and go to the Reviews page for more info including the Motoscope Test.

Here is Ken Green son's Peugeot 306 1.4 (to see Ken's Alfa 147 click here).

Improves all the usual aspects like throttle response and flat spots and reduces fuel consumption too.

He said that the car was noticeably unresponsive till he fitted the device and now smoothness and throttle response is superb though he's not thrilled with the noise, but it will get better with use and he has now ordered a PiperX Filter / Silencer (click here) which will make some difference.

We are also currently working on a full muffler to silence the issue completely!

Thanks for sending the pictures Ken!
