The
older Peugeot 205 and 309 GTi's are notorious for lumpy low end running
(click here for more information on the 205 GTi) but
it also helps the newer
206 GTi
and has not only ironed out the flat spots on this 206 but the owner claims to
be getting 5+% economy as well as a much smoother ride.
Certainly with these modern engines it
gets more and more difficult to improve on an already excellent package but when
it comes to fly-by-wire electronically controlled engines the ECU is often more
concerned about emissions than performance and throttle response often suffers!
The newer Peugeot
206
GTi is also prone to be a
bit skittish and the CB-26P is known to improve idling on this engine - reviews
on the www.peugeot-gti.net site
confirm the tickover improvement on a 306 GTi and among other things, according
to them, a flat spot that even the Peugeot
dealer couldn't sort has been cured!
Many thanks to Ellis Lau for
these EXCELLENT pictures! (click on picture for high res version)
Tony
Scott didn't much care for the performance of his Primera
SRi in first and second
gear - great when it gets going but not so bright lower down.
He kindly sent us a picture of the fitting and simply
said: "Completely transformed now -
cheers!" t@nyscott.com

There is more information on the
Primera 2.0e GT with two reviews from John Michael, go to the 'Reviews'
page - indeed we have had a lot of very positive feedback from Primera
owners.
As far as other performance cars are
concerned there is a special section on
VW's and a page devoted to E36 BMW M3's - all accessed via the contents or Cars
& Fitting pages - there's everything from a Corvette to Bentley Turbo if
you know where to look. As with all the pictures on this
site - if you want an expanded view, just click the picture and then when you
are finished just click the 'Back' button on your browser to return to the page.
The
Nissan 200sx
is a Turbo, and the Ecotek device switches off when the engine is running on
boost, but it makes the car a great deal more tractable at lower revs and
sharpens throttle response - so off boost driving is much improved.
Most notably it helps driveability when
used in conjunction with the SE Stage 2 chip - particularly when cold and,
especially with a high pressure fuel pump, it will help you through the MoT
emissions test!
Visit the
excellent 200sx site at:
www.nissan200sx.co.uk for all you need to know (and probably some things you
don't) about the superb (and very quick) 200sx - we asked them to let us have a
picture of the fitting and Paul Whitehorn kindly provided this one of the device
fitted to his car - many thanks Paul!
Labeed Hosein from Trinidad has some
results on a Nissan Sentra

Here
is the fitting for the Nissan Micra
- on the POTN Forum they said
"Cant believe the difference
- it's amazing really, the car feels really powerful because the throttle
responds much quicker and the induction noise is wicked! I've got a back box and
a custom air feed to a K&N panel filter - the Ecotek is the most noticeable
difference so far - this may be because of the other mods working together or
because of the magic of the Ecotek I dunno. I was really sceptical but took a
chance - best £50 I've spent outside an ICE shop!"
Dave
Moore is the webmaster for www.fastfords.org.uk
he fitted the CB-26P to his Fiesta
XR2 and says:
"The
first thing that struck me was the induction noise, (similar to a carb but on
the overrun) although very audible with the bonnet open inside the car it was
quite bearable - had it not been, a specially designed Pipercross noise
reducer/filter is available! A quick spin later and a few
noticeable improvements, gear changes seemed smoother both up and down and tick
over was somehow smoother too! I have not driven enough miles to confirm the
fuel reduction claims but they would appear quite substantiated judging from my
last tank full of petrol."

And from the old to the brand new.....Ford
Fiesta ST150
The
fastest Fiesta ST 150 - 'ST' stands for Sports Technologies, don't ya know -
uses a 2.0-litre 150bhp 16-valve four-cylinder to generate a top speed of 129mph
and a sprint from 0-60mph in 7.9secs. Maximum torque is 140lb ft and is
developed at a relatively high 4500rpm. There's a sweet-shifting, close-ratio
five-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with a set of quite gnarly 17-inch
alloy wheels.
A recent Road test confirms: "Well, the Ford men claim that a Fiesta
ST 150 lapped the company's tough test circuit at Lommel in exactly the same
time as the more powerful Focus ST 170. Indeed, the basic Fiesta has one of the
best chassis in the business, so the starting point is a good one. But Ford is
also claiming that the Fiesta ST will 'protect the novice while rewarding the
enthusiast'. Privately, Ford insiders say that safe handling was the absolute
priority. And with a powerful front-wheel drive car, that usually means plenty
of understeer as you approach the limit, which is one of the first
characteristics you notice when pressing on in the Fiesta ST."
Nice
motor but what about the Ecotek - well Steve has kindly sent us some fitting
pics and his initial impressions of the benefits of the Ecotek CB-26P:
"I’ve just fitted the device to my Fiesta ST and
after much concern about killing my car was surprised how easy the fitting was.
I
haven’t seen any guides for this engine so thought you might like a few pics as
finding the right hose to cut was a bit tricky. I’ll let you know how fuel
economy goes as I’ve been mapping my consumption for my daily drive to work and
have some stable ‘pre-fit’ data as a base line. I have noticed an immediate
difference in engine smoothness at low revs (all ST150s have this problem) and
the car does seem more responsive so, so far so good!
Thanks again and hope you find the pics of use for your fitting guide page."
Well, many thanks Steve - enjoy!
